Helping people find jobs and progress their careers

We are developing a new Employment and Skills Strategy for Wokingham Borough.
It sets out how we will respond to changes in the economy and make sure residents and businesses can access the skills and training they need.
We want your views to help shape the final strategy.
What the strategy aims to do
- Support residents to access good jobs and training
- Help businesses find and develop the skilled workforce they need
- Break down barriers to work so background does not determine future opportunities
- Make it easier to access support through joined-up local services
We will work with businesses, training providers, community organisations and public services to design support that meets the real needs of our residents and local economy.
Who we are focusing on
We are proposing to focus on three groups where extra support is needed:
- Young people
- Women
- Residents not in employment who want to work
These groups have been identified using local data and research. Although Wokingham Borough is a strong local economy, not everyone benefits equally and some residents face greater barriers to work and progression.
