TRO Consultation - Proposed bus lanes on A4 London Road

We are introducing two bus lanes on the A4 London Road going into Reading.
Earlier this year, together with Reading Borough Council, we consulted on changes to the A4 London Road and Sutton Seeds Roundabout. Responses to the consultation were reviewed and the scheme was approved in principle by our Executive in June. Before the bus lanes can be introduced, however, the council is required to complete a statutory Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) consultation.
The TRO consultation is the next legal stage in the process. It providers residents, businesses and other interested parties with an opportunity to raise any concerns or objections relating to the proposed Traffic Regulation Order, particularly where they believe there are traffic management issues or impacts that may not already have been considered.
This consultation does not reconsider the principle of introducing the bus lanes, which has already been approved. Instead, it related specifically to the Traffic Regulation Order required to implement them.
Valid considerations in a TRO consultation must relate to traffic management matters, such as how the proposed restrictions may affect road safety, traffic flow and access to properties.
The proposed TRO is intended to help buses travel through this part of the A4 corridor more reliably by providing dedicated road space on the westbound approach to Sutton Seeds Roundabout and through part of the roundabout.
The proposed bus lanes would operate at all times and would be for westbound travel. Buses, Dial-a-Ride buses, pedal cycles and taxis would be permitted to use them.
