Wokingham Borough Council is in the process of preparing a new local plan – the Local Plan Update.

This sets out the planning policies the council will use to manage development across the borough. Once adopted, it will replace the policies set out in the council’s current local plans.

The council has now published the next version of the plan, known as the Proposed Submission Plan (Regulation 19), for comment.

Publication

The Proposed Submission Plan and all supporting documents may be viewed on our website.

A selection are also listed for viewing below.

How to make comments

At this stage, comments are invited on the Proposed Submission Plan within the remit of legal compliance and the tests of soundness, as set out in national planning policy.

These tests form the basis against which the plan is assessed at examination.

Anyone wishing to respond is strongly advised to read the guidance notes on making representations, which provide more detail on these matters.

Submission of representations using the online form is strongly encouraged. However, a representation form is also available.

This can be filled in and emailed to LPU@wokingham.gov.uk or printed and posted to: Local Plan Update, Planning Policy, Wokingham Borough Council offices, Shute End, Wokingham, Berkshire RG40 1BN.

Representations received after 5PM on Wednesday 13 November 2024 will not be accepted, nor will any anonymous comments.

Draft local plan consultation

3 February 2020 - 3 April 2020

This was the third public consultation on the plan so far which ran from 3 February to 3 April 2020. It presented a full draft plan document setting out proposals for where development should go and how it should be managed. It covered a range of topics including proposed allocations for housing and other development, climate change, sustainable transport, affordable housing, and many more.

We asked you to consider the policy approaches in the Draft Plan and share any comments or proposed changes you considered should be made.

The Draft Plan document and principle supporting documents can be found below, as well as a high level summary of the initial outcomes of the consultation:

Additionally, you can find all of the documents that supported the consultation on the Draft Local Plan consultation page. There is also an interactive map available which allows you to view the proposed designations, including site allocations.
