Let's Talk Climate
We declared a climate emergency in 2019 and produced an ambitious action plan to play our part in tackling the crisis.
We want to work together with the community to review our plans and come up with new ideas to improve the borough's carbon footprint.
The process will be delivered by experienced facilitators and will offer two ways for the community to be involved:
- Small peer groups (circa ten people each) who will meet twice
- Public survey (e-panel) open to everybody
Please see the timeline below for project phases. These are subject to change.

Public Survey
We want to hear from you about where you think we should be prioritising our climate work and how we could help you to make more sustainable choices.
Earlier this year, nine focus groups made up of residents, businesses and children, were guided through three sessions looking at what can be done locally to reduce our carbon impact.
The participants started by thinking about if money and technology were no issue, what could they do and narrowed those down into tangible and practical ideas.
In this survey, we are sharing those ideas and asking people across the borough what they think.
There are two documents attached to help you:
- Let's Talk Climate summary report - full report of the earlier focus groups
- Let's Talk Climate - Where are we now - summarises the key recommendations, with comment from teams across the council as to where and how the council are already considering these measures
There are also four videos to help you, with council officers and partner experts explaining some of the key things to consider with carbon emissions.
