Help us shape our future bus network

Buses are important for travelling in the borough. In 2024/25 there were just over 2.6 million bus journeys on more than 20 routes, with the number of journeys increasing year on year since the pandemic. They provide essential access for residents to reach jobs, services, shops and leisure activities.

We are reviewing the bus network and would like your feedback on the services that currently receive financial support. Council funding is limited and must be used where it is most needed.

In our Wokingham Local Transport Plan 2025 we set out how a good transport system is essential for a thriving society. The plan recognises the need to balance car use with walking, cycling and public transport. It forms part of our pledge to be a borough where everyone has equal access to opportunities so they can thrive.

The population of the borough is expected to grow over the next ten to 20 years. Changing demographic characteristics are likely to affect the demand for travel. Older age groups make different types of trips to those of working age, including higher levels of concessionary bus travel, and families moving into new housing tend to make more trips than those in more established residential areas.

Why your views matter

We haven’t got funding to do everything we would like to do. Your feedback will help us decide if our existing bus services are meeting your needs and what priorities we should focus on.

How to have your say

The survey is in ten parts A to H. You do not have to respond to each part, only the sections you wish to comment on. A summary of each part is listed below, along with links to the relevant timetables and maps for existing services.

The last part of the consultation provides an opportunity for you to tell us anything else you would like to say about the bus services and our support to it, including any services not specifically mentioned in the earlier questions.
