Creating a Tree Strategy for the borough
We've adopted a plans that clearly sets out how trees are cared for, and new ones are planted, in Wokingham borough.
Our Tree Strategy will help us protect the local environment and wildlife as well as the health of everyone who lives, works or studies locally.
Its proposals were shaped by feedback from outside experts and our own officers, as well as your views during consultation. They cover all trees from saplings to older specimens or hedgerows, orchards and woodlands.
They outline how they're managed and maintained, developers’ duties towards planting and how you can help protect trees with historic or community value.
Phases
Strategy development
Working with a specialist consultant who will be able to write the strategy. The consultant will be carrying out mapping exercises to help us understand our current tree assets and provide guidance on how the strategy will help us manage and maintain them and newly planted trees to maximise the benefits they offer to our communities and environment. As we gather further information from the survey studies we will be providing updates through this channel.
