Charitable Lets

We are always working to help local charities in any way possible and are proud to work in partnership with so many good causes to make Wokingham Borough a better place.

One of the ways we can offer practical support to local charities is to provide building space through council-owned properties.

That's why we are introducing our Charitable Lets programme.

Once a charity expresses an interest with us, they will be added to a register. This means that we can contact them once we identify a space that could meet their needs.

Applying for a space is a clear and transparent process and we will aim to help whenever we can, including co-locating where appropriate.

We also aim to signpost organisations to our other services that can help charities with asset management.

Our process of helping registered charities to lease or occupy council- owned properties will come with a clear contractual agreement.

To find out more and register your charity for consideration, please complete the online form.

How does the process work?

  • A charity first registers their interest in being considered for a council-owned property/building space, using the online registration form
  • We keep a register of all requests received and look to match those requests against our properties
  • Registered charities will be notified of the properties available for charitable let
  • Once a property becomes available, we invite charitable organisations to submit an expression of interest
  • We use a scoring system to determine how suitable the space is for the needs of the charity
  • A decision is then made by a panel and communicated to the successful organisation, as well as any others who applied and were unsuccessful
