Best Start Family Hubs: Shaping support for families in Wokingham Borough
We are re-launching our current children’s centres with a new name: Best Start Family Hubs. This national initiative aims to make it easier for families to find support when they need it, in places that feel welcoming and familiar.
Families have told us that it can sometimes be difficult to know where to go for help. We also know that services do not always feel joined up. Best Start Family Hubs are designed to change this by bringing a wide range of support together in one place. All councils are receiving Government funding to expand what is on offer, supporting families from pregnancy through the early years and up to age 19, or 25 for young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
Family Hubs will provide support and advice that families can access in their local community. This approach has been shown to help children, young people and families get the best start in life, stay safe and thrive.
You can learn more about the national Family Hubs programme on the Education Hub website: Best Start Family Hubs: what parents need to know.

We are beginning this work with a survey to understand what matters most to local families. Over the next few months we will also be holding a series of information sessions and events where parents, carers and partners can find out more about the development of Family Hubs in Wokingham.
If you would like to hear about these events as they are announced, you can register your interest here or at the end of the survey.
