Bearwood Primary School relocation and new specialist provision
We are proposing to relocate Bearwood Primary School from its current site in Sindlesham to a new purpose-built school in Spencers Wood from September 2028. The proposal also includes the addition of a specialist base within the school with resources for up to 14 children with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for autism and speech, language and communication needs. The new school would provide 210 mainstream places, retain its admission number of 30 pupils per year group and continue to offer nursery provision.
This is the first stage of engagement on the proposals. We want to hear the views of parents, carers, staff, residents and other interested parties before a formal statutory consultation begins later this year.
No decisions have been made yet. Your feedback will help us understand the questions, concerns and opportunities people see in the proposals and will help shape the formal consultation.
The proposal includes:
- Relocating Bearwood Primary School to a new site in Spencers Wood from September 2028
- Retaining the school's admission number of 30 children per year group, providing 210 mainstream places in total
- Providing nursery places at the new school
- Opening a specialist base within the new school for up to 14 pupils from Reception to Year 6 with EHCPs naming autism and speech, language and communication needs
- Providing free transport between the current and new school sites at the start and end of the school day for at least three years following relocation
There are long term plans for the existing Bearwood Primary School site to turn it into a special school. These plans are in the early stages and further consultations will take place as proposals develop.
