Aviation Museum car park

Car parking charges are being proposed at the Museum of Berkshire Aviation, at Dinton Pastures Country Park.

We are proposing this change to bring the museum’s car park in line with charges for other car parks at the 350-acre country park.

The introduction of car parking charges at this car park was approved by the council as part of our 2024/25 Medium Term Financial Plan.

It means car parking will be fair and consistent for visitors to our country parks. Plus, it will enable us to continue to invest in the wider visitor experience.

Ahead of the proposal, we’ve been working with the museum and groups and organisations who use it as a base. They will be able to continue to park for free at the museum car park.

Following the proposed changes, visitors will be able to park there for free, for drop-off or pick-up, for up to 15 minutes, which is the same as at Dinton Activity Centre car park.

You can share with us your written feedback on all of the above. To do so, you have until 12 midnight, Thursday 3 July 2025.

Car parking charges approved

18 September 2025 - No end date

At a council meeting of our Executive on 18 September 2025, the decision to introduce parking charges at the Museum of Berkshire Aviation, at Dinton Pastures Country Park was approved.

Many of you told us that you were worried about the impact on the museum and its visitors, but there will still be free parking for volunteers and members of staff.

Visitors to the museum will be able to claim a refund on parking with a museum ticket, or buy concessionary season tickets. And there’ll be free parking also for Blue Badge holders.

In our experience, introducing parking charges at other locations hasn’t affected visitor numbers, and the Aviation Museum is accessible on foot, by cycling, or by bus.

Our decision to approve parking charges at the Aviation Museum car park brings it in line with other car parks at Dinton Pastures and includes 15 minutes free parking with a ‘free vend’ ticket.

Car parking will now be fair and consistent across our country parks, and through that income will enable us to keep investing in a great visitor experience.
