Deciding new planning applications: our Local Validation List
Our Local Validation List explains what supporting information we need when you submit a planning application to us. This covers the scope and level of detail required, which can vary according to the scale and nature of your proposal.
Like all local planning authorities, we're required to publish this list for everyone to see and review it every two years. Quite a lot of time has passed since we last did this and we're now proposing a number of changes so we want to know what you think.
Please take time to read the draft document (PDF format, 592.2 KB), which clearly outlines the changes being proposed, and send any comments to development.control@wokingham.gov.uk before midnight on 17 August 2023.
Further information
This list includes national validation requirements, which we aren't consulting on because these are set by the Government and apply equally to all councils that have planning powers.
We're only consulting on the local validation requirements, which relate specifically to planning applications submitted to Wokingham Borough Council.
This is important because applications that don't meet both the national and local criteria will not be treated as a valid submission and we will not make a decision on them.
- In the interests of openness, this consultation launched on 13 July and was initially hosted on our main corporate website at www.wokingham.gov.uk, but was briefly unavailable after the site was upgraded on 19 July. We've moved it to Engage and extended the deadline by a week, from the original date of 10 August, to account for the down time.
