Keeping our community safe
Keeping our residents safe is our number one priority
Wokingham Borough is one of the safest places in the country to live, work and visit and we’re proud of that. However, we’re not complacent and we know that crime and disorder does take place in our communities.
As part of the Community Safety Partnership we work closely with the key organisations responsible for keeping the Borough safe. The partnership includes:
- Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
- Berkshire West Clinical Commissioning Group
- Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service
- Thames Valley Community Rehabilitation
- Thames Valley Police
- Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner
- Wokingham Borough Council
The partnership agrees the Borough's response to crime and anti-social behaviour and sets priorities to ensure we are working together to create a safe community. The partnership funds specific projects that are targeted at its priorities.
We always try to listen to the needs and concerns of local residents and take action, intervening early where possible to prevent issues escalating and work together to protect vulnerable residents.
As part of Wokingham Community Safety Partnership we aim to:
- Work with communities to deal with crime and anti-social behaviour hotspots
- Reduce the harm caused by domestic abuse
- Reduce incidents of serious violence and knife crime
- Tackle exploitation of children, young people and vulnerable adults
- Reduce incidents of residential burglary and theft from vehicles
